Why the Teaching Excellence Framework is flawed

Crick Centre Associate Fellow Dr Joshua Forstenzer writes for The Guardian on the problems with the Government’s proposed Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

Read Joshua Forstenzer’s article for The Guardian Why the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) is flawed.

Joshua cites the speech made by Sir Keith Burnett, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sheffield, in the 2016 annual lecture to the Council for the Defence of British Universities, which championed the idea that universities should dedicate themselves to the public good, and foster deep and lasting relationships with their students. Joshua highlights Sir Keith’s concern that marketisation will erode, rather than empower, the educational capacities of universities.
