The Crick Centre’s Deputy Director Matt Wood has won the Political Studies Association’s Harrison Prize for best article in Political Studies journal in 2016.

The article, ‘Paradoxical Politics’ looks at the politics of public debate on flooding, and shows that discussions of security and the natural lead to governments escaping blame for poor flood planning.
Matt’s article was part-funded by an ESRC PhD studentship. He is studying flooding governance as part of his current book project on expertise and crisis politics.
